Walking: A Lifestyle for Health and Balance
Walking isn’t just an activity for me; it’s an essential part of my lifestyle, seamlessly integrated into my daily routine. Whether I’m taking longer walks or sneaking in mini MOVE-breaks, walking keeps me grounded and energized. Through my TAKE YOU TIME™ Method, I show how anyone can make walking a simple, sustainable habit that transforms not just their body but also their mind. The best part? You don’t need to gear up like a marathon runner—walking fits into any outfit, any time of day.
Walking Through the Day
My life is full, juggling teaching Christian religion in high school, studying for both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in educational theology at KU Leuven, and running my transformational coaching business. Yet, I still manage to get my 15,000 steps a day. How? By making walking a natural part of my routine. Whether it’s walking between classes, during a break, or to clear my mind between coaching sessions, I turn everyday moments into MOVE-snacks.
For my shorter walks, especially when I have meetings or am teaching, I wear something practical yet stylish—like pants or jeans paired with comfortable Nike Air sneakers. On longer walks, I often wear Asics running shoes for extra support. Even when I dress up—like heading into town in Ghent—I stay true to my walking routine. My go-to outfit for colder days is a wool dress paired with gradual compression tights from Solidea, specifically their Essentia Merino Jasmine line in black. These tights provide warmth, improved circulation, and pair beautifully with my leopard-print Nike running shoes.
The Benefits of Walking
Walking isn’t just about movement; it’s a gift to your mental and physical health. It improves circulation, boosts mood, strengthens muscles, and clears the mind. For me, it’s also a spiritual practice—a way to connect with myself, my faith, and my surroundings. Walking gives me the space to reflect, recharge, and realign with my purpose.
Why Solidea Stands Out
One of my favorite discoveries has been Solidea’s compression tights. They’re not only incredibly warm for chilly days but also supportive, promoting better circulation without sacrificing style. The Essentia Merino Jasmine tights are a game-changer, blending the softness of merino wool with the functionality of compression. They’ve become a staple in my wardrobe, proving that comfort and elegance can go hand in hand. Walking helps to get things flowing and aids lymphatic drainage and the Solidea products give an extra boost of circulation which makes your legs slimmer as you get rid of toxins and fluid retention. See one of my other articles HERE about their micro-massage anti-cellulite leggings.
Walking: A Lifestyle You Can Embrace
Incorporating walking into your life doesn’t require drastic changes. Start small—take a 10-minute walk during your lunch break, park a little farther from your destination, or pace during phone calls. With time, these moments add up to something transformative. Walking is not just about physical movement; it’s about moving toward a healthier, more balanced life.
If I can make walking a priority with my packed schedule, so can you. Whether you’re in jeans and running shoes or a dress and compression stockings, every step you take brings you closer to better health and greater clarity. Let walking become your lifestyle—it’s simple, sustainable, and profoundly rewarding.
