8 Simple Ways to Relax at Home and Reclaim Your Peace
I don’t know about you, but when life feels chaotic, there’s nothing better than finding those little rituals that bring me back to center. I have had a hell of a year so relaxation is an everyday necessity for me Over time, I’ve built a small collection of things that make my home a haven, a place where I can truly relax and recharge. Some are practical, some are deeply personal, but all of them make me feel at ease. Let me walk you through my favourite ways to unwind at home, plus a few extra ideas I’ve been leaning into lately. Here are 8 simple ways to relax at home and reclaim your peace!
1. My Solidea Be You Icon Bamboo Leggings in Navy Blue
I can’t rave enough about these leggings. They’re not just soft; they’re like wearing a cozy hug. What I love most with these Bamboo Be You Icon leggings from Solidea is that they’re made of bamboo, which feels so breathable and comfy against my skin. They even help with circulation and drainage, which makes a huge difference after a long, stressful day. And here’s the kicker: they now have them in navy blue! If you look at the pictures below you will notice that they are smaller in the lower end or you leg so they ‘push’ out fluids and toxins from ankle to your upper body. You can really feel and see that effect.
This might sound silly, but I was “thrilled” when I saw the new color. It perfectly matches one of my favorite sweaters, making me feel both stylish and snug. There’s something about slipping into an outfit that feels “just right” that sets the tone for total relaxation. It’s like my at-home uniform for unwinding! And the extra benefit: leaner legs because of the microstimulation effect. Don’t we all want that?

3. Herbal Tea and herbal aids for healing and hydration
If you’ve ever dealt with stress-related stomach issues like inflammation or cramps, you’ll understand how much of a lifesaver herbal tea and herbs can be. I’ve made it part of my daily routine to brew loose-leaf tea, and the whole process feels so calming—from scooping the leaves to inhaling the warm, earthy scent as it steeps.
Some of my go-to herbs for tea include:
– Chamomile: For its soothing properties and ability to calm my mind.
– Peppermint: It’s refreshing and great for digestion and relaxes intestines and reduces bloating.
– Fennel: A game-changer when my stomach feels unsettled.
– Lemon balm: This one’s my secret weapon for stress; it helps me unwind in minutes.
Each sip feels like a little moment of self-care, and knowing it’s healing my body makes it even better.
I am currently going through a very stressfull period and have been suffering from gastro-intestinal problems so I needed a bit more… I did not want to take regular, western medication so on top of my tea routine I added a herbal supplement called ‘carmenthin’, a plant-based medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal complaints, particularly mild spasms, flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain. Cause: how can a girl relax when you are bloated like hell??? I used to take ‘tempocol’ but this newer version works even better. Carmenthin contains peppermint oil and caraway spice which are concentrated inside a small capsule that releases its herbal power further up the digestion chain. Absolute relief and way better than the usual drug ‘buscopan’ (Hyoscine butylbromide) they usually prescribe which slows digestion and causes constipation which is not what you want…

3. Getting Lost in a Good Book
Books are my sanctuary. Every day, I take a moment to pray and reflect, thanking God and Jesus for the blessings in my life. I start and end my day with it. Reading feels like an extension of that quiet, sacred time. Right now, I’m diving into a book by Lucinda Riley called ‘The butterfly room’. The imagery is so beautiful, and her writing has a way of whisking me away into another world, even if just for a chapter or two. It helps me sleep better and is so much smarter than scrolling your phone.
It reminds me how important it is to create space for ourselves to just ‘be’. Whether it’s a few minutes before bed or a lazy Sunday afternoon, books feel like the ultimate escape.
4. My Sheep Wool Skin Slippers
Okay, these slippers deserve their own spotlight. Imagine slipping your feet into the softest, warmest cocoon at the end of a long day. That’s exactly what my sheep wool skin slippers feel like.
There’s something so luxurious yet grounding about them. They’re perfect for keeping me cozy on chilly mornings or when I’m curled up on the couch with my tea and book. Plus, they’re just one of those small, simple joys that instantly make me feel at home. I buy ours at ‘Het Herdershuys’ where they sell the brand Shepherd. Have been a client with them for years.
5. A Touch of Luxury with Caudalie Hand Cream
There’s something so soothing about taking care of your hands, especially when you’ve been busy all day. I’ve been loving the Caudalie Vinoperfect hand cream for years, it’s rich and nourishing without being greasy, and the scent is subtle but luxurious. It also fights sun damage and wrinkles which I love going 50… I have virtually no wrinkles on my face (and I’m 47) but I wish I had better taken care of my hands in the past…
At the end of the day, I’ll massage a little into my hands, and it feels like an instant moment of indulgence. Plus, my skin feels so soft afterward! It’s a small ritual, but it’s one that reminds me to slow down and take care of myself in the simplest ways.
6. Gentle stretching
Even just 10 minutes of light stretching can work wonders. I’ll roll out my mat, put on some calming music (think soft piano or nature sounds), and gently move through a few poses. My favourites are child’s pose and cat-cow stretches—they help release all that tension I tend to carry in my shoulders and lower back.
It’s less about “working out” and more about reconnecting with my body. Afterward, I feel lighter and more grounded.
7. Exploring Celestial Influences with Quantum Human Design™
One of the most grounding practices I’ve embraced is using Quantum Human Design™ to check celestial influences and reflect on how they align with my personal journey. This isn’t just about understanding planetary movements; it’s about finding deeper meaning and clarity during challenging times.
As a transformation mentor specializing in crisis, I often guide my clients through difficult transitions by helping them reconnect with their purpose and inner strength using Quantum Human Design™ . Right now, I’m navigating my own crisis—my husband passed away a year ago, and the process of healing has been both personal and deeply transformative.
Quantum Human Design™ has been an anchor for me during this time. It helps me see the patterns, lessons, and energies that are shaping my life and work. This practice has reminded me that even in the midst of pain, there’s an opportunity to grow, to heal, and to serve others with even greater empathy and insight.
When I sit down to reflect on my chart or explore the celestial influences of the day, I feel a sense of calm and purpose. It’s a moment to realign with my higher self and the work I’m called to do—helping others navigate their crises with courage and clarity. I am an initiator (manifestor) in Quantum Human Design™, that is also why I need a lot of YOU-time and in my case alone time to recharge my batteries.
8. Setting Boundaries with My Phone: Do Not Disturb Mode
One of the most important changes I’ve made to protect my relaxation time is setting firm boundaries with my phone. After a certain time in the evening, or on days when I take time off, I put my phone on ‘Do Not Disturb’ or switch to what I call ‘family mode’. No more emails, texts, or notifications pulling me back into work mode or breaking my focus from being present.
This boundary has been a game-changer, not only for my mental well-being but also for how I show up in my personal relationships. It’s such a small shift, yet it creates so much space for connection, rest, and introspection.
I encourage my clients to adopt a similar practice—it’s a way of reclaiming control over your time and energy. For me, it’s about giving myself permission to fully relax and honor my need for stillness, whether I’m spending time with loved ones or simply unwinding on my own. Ask yourself this question: “ Do I really NEED to answer that whatsapp-message?”. We can all learn to be in charge of our own lives again.
